Donald Eugene Smith, 72, Fillmore, died Tuesday at his residence.

Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of Ralph Smith and Leona (Neal) Smith. He married Nancy (Sheets) Smith on Oct. 23, 1957, and she survives.

A U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War, he later worked as a truck driver for Preston Truck Lines for eight years and retired in 1996. Previously he worked at Murphy Motor Freight for 17 years.

He was a member of the West Newton Masonic Lodge No. 707 and honorary member of Scottish Rite in Indianapolis.

Additional survivors include two sons, Donald E. Smith Jr. and Kyle E. Smith, both of Fillmore; eight grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Jean Johnson, Greenwood.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Ind., with Jeff Yutmeyer officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville.
