Resident encourages pet adoption

To the editor:

I was happy to see that Greencastle was represented at the recent Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Congratulations to the Labrador Retriever, the Clumber Spaniel and their owners.

I wanted to share news of another canine that once called Greencastle home. Maybe you've seen our dog, Paisley, "starring" in an Atta Boy Plumbing commercial spoofing the old "Timmy and Lassie" show. We adopted our 3-year-old collie-mix from the Humane Society of Putnam County in April of 2006. She is a wonderful and much-loved addition to the family which also includes 2 kids, 2 cats, 2 hamsters and a Bernese Mountain Dog (and compared to what we paid a breeder for him, Paisley was a real bargain AND was spayed and vaccinated).

Many thanks to the staff a HSPC for the care that Paisley (then "Louise") received during her month-long stay awaiting adoption. Sadly, too many dogs and cats are looking for loving homes. If you have room in your heart and your home for a new pet, please consider adoption from a shelter or rescue group.

Molly Lawrence Jaeger,

Greencastle
