Greencastle Fire Dept.

Greencastle firefighters made the following run on Monday.

* At 9:48 a.m., crews were dispatched to 1212 South Indiana Street to clean up a fuel spill from a parked vehicle. They returned to station at 10:17 a.m.

Putnam County Jail

Two people were taken into custody recently at the Putnam County Jail.

* On March 9, at 7:32 p.m., Lisa M. Bennett, Reelsville, was booked in on an out of county hold.

* On March 10, at 8:37 a.m., Kristopher Mark Hardy, Greencastle, was booked in on a court order from the Department of Corrections.

Sheriff's Dept.

One accident was investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff's office on March 4 at 3:29 p.m.

Martha L. Clar, 33, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 40 when she lost control due to slush and snow. She slid off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox, flowerbeds and a fence at 6020 W. U.S. 40.

Damage was estimated between $2,500-5,000.

City police

Several tickets were issued and accidents investigated by the Greencastle Police Department.

* On March 7 at 3:24 p.m. Officer Ed Wilson assisted by Officer Christopher Helmer and Chief Thomas Sutherlin responded to an accident on Indianapolis Road near 240 E. Hugh Jacobs, 66, Lewis was stopped in traffic when Bryan Chadd, 51, Phoenix, Ariz. slid on the slick roadway causing him to struck Jacobs car in the rear.

* At 8:26 p.m. Officer Matthew Huffman assisted by Sgt. Charles Inman Jr. and Officer Ed Wilson responded to an accident on Washington Street. Ronnie Hensley II, 28, Bainbridge was traveling westbound on Washington Street when his vehicle struck a parked car registered to David Sabato, Noblesville. A third vehicle also sustained damage. It belongs to Jennifer Herrold, Greencastle.

Police also ticketed several people recently.

* On March 6 at 6:40 p.m. Artus Landrum, 58, Seelyville was ticketed Officer Christopher Helmer on Jackson Street for speeding 45 in a 30.

* At 1:15 p.m. on March 8 Reserve Officer Nicholas Eastham ticketed Terry King II, 21, Coatesville on Indianapolis Rd at 10th Street for an unsafe start.

* Also on March 8 at 5:30 p.m. Eastham ticketed Randy Winters, 40, Greencastle on Fillmore Rd for speeding 45 in a 30 zone.

* On March 8 at 3 p.m. Officer Darrel Bunten ticketed the following: Nathaniel Schaller, 19, Fillmore on Fillmore Rd for improper display of registration.

* At 6:05 p.m. on March 8, Heather Hannel, 22, Indianapolis was stopped on S. Bloomington St. for speeding 44 in a 30 zone.

* On March 9 at 10:13 p.m. Officer Darrel Bunten ticketed Nichol Brown, 28, Greencastle on Fillmore Rd for driving while suspended.
