First aid training to improve customer service at PCH
A new plan to offer first aid training to managers in various departments at Putnam County Hospital is meant to ease the load on emergency room staff, hospital officials said.
Earlier this week, the hospital board approved the training for managers in different departments throughout the hospital. This, they say, will help managers better assess a non-emergency type situation and prevent some trips to the emergency room and thereby ensuring outside patrons are served first.
The previous plan had workers from all departments heading to the emergency room for all types of injuries.
Now when employees are injured in a non-emergency situation, they will seek out the trained managers for assistance.
In the circumstance of serious emergency situations, employees will still be sent to the emergency room.
