DPU softball improves to 18-1 with big win

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The third-ranked Tigers improved to 18-1 and extended their winning streak to 18 following a 13-0 win over Oberlin in five innings in the Gene Cusic Classic. With its ninth straight shutout, DePauw extended its scoreless streak to 57 1/3 consecutive innings.

The Tigers scored 10 in the first and three in the third inning taking the victory. Megan Soultz pitched a scoreless first before Kristin Barrow tossed the last four for her first victory of the season. Barrow struck out 10 in the contest. The Tigers totaled 12 hits in the win.

DePauw returns to action on Thursday when it faces St. Olaf and Wisconsin-Whitewater.

In the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll, DePauw climbed two spots to No. 3 for its highest ranking in program history.

The University of Texas-Tyler tops the poll with all eight first-place votes and 200 points. Louisiana College is second with 181 points, while the Tigers are third with 170.

The records in the poll are on March 24.
