Ivy Tech to host high school welding competition

TERRE HAUTE -- Ivy Tech Community College is hosting its annual welding competition for high school students on Wednesday, April 16, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the welding area at its main campus, 8000 South Education Drive, Terre Haute.

Each high school student will receive a blueprint of a welding project. They will then have to follow the print and complete the job.

Ivy Tech will award two scholarships, $2,000 and $1,000, to the top two high school seniors. The top high school junior will receive a welding hood.

Six Wabash Valley high schools are competing in this event. They include Terre Haute North Vigo, Terre Haute South Vigo, Hoosier Hills, Area 30 Career Center, Twin Rivers and Parke Vermillion Educational Training Interlocal.
