Reported bus hijacking winds up being a hoax
Local and state law enforcement agencies responded to yet another reported hijacking of a Greyhound bus in Putnam County Sunday night, but it turned out to be a hoax.
Officer Brian Smith, with the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post, told the BannerGraphic this was not the first time a bogus report of a hijacking has taken place.
In January, someone reported a man was holding a knife to the throat of a driver of a Greyhound bus traveling on Interstate 70. Officers scrambled to the scene but found nothing.
A similar call came in Sunday night and officers from the state police and Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to the interstate to search for a bus.
Nothing was found.
Smith said he checked with Greyhound company officials and they didn't have a bus in the area.
