Former President Clinton charts course to Greencastle

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Former President Bill Clinton is planning a stop in Greencastle this Friday, according to Mayor Sue Murray who told members of the City Council Tuesday night.

Murray said after the meeting that a representative from the Clinton campaign called her office Tuesday afternoon and said Clinton is tentatively scheduled to speak at 1 p.m., but it may be more like 2 or 2:30 p.m. The representative did not say where Clinton would be speaking.

Murray also said Greencastle Police Chief Tom Sutherlin received a phone call from the FBI to talk about law enforcement issues associated with Clinton's visit.

Clinton is planning several visits in southwestern Indiana this week.

  • Just stop and think about 'what' is currently in office... Do you enjoy paying so much for gas or watching everyone losing their houses or living through the next depression? And what about all the money spent on this ridiculous war? Someone else's views of marriage is probably the least of our worries right now. We need someone that can DO something about the mess we've gotten in. Sure it would be nice to find the "perfect person" that can handle all of that as well as having respect for marriage. We're looking at politicians though. We need to work on fixing these problems and stop worrying about someone's marriage!

  • I look forward to this and it is a rare event that the democrats in Indiana get any attention.

As far as the personal attacks do you think the events of the Clinton White House really compare with the last 7+yrs? No...I did not think so.

  • Thank goodness everyone has a right to their own opinion. Seems as if some have forgotten the last 1 1/2 years of Clinton Whitehouse, where nothing got down except, hearings and scandals, and lets not forget their exit from the whitehouse. I for one believe that the Bush administration has done its best to keep the terrorist out of this county, and on another continent. So are econmony is bad, I for one lost my job during the Clinton years, when he closed alot of military bases, proclaiming to save money, and that are military was too fat. Let us not forget the Democrats in the Congress and Senate pulling most of the votes. Thats all tax payers need is more government programs to fund the special interest of some politician. Seems to me that some just want to point the finger for their own aggenda.

  • Always happy to see the last 8 creepy republicans in America lighting up the board at the Banner.

whitewater? Turned out to be nothing but a witch hunt, for bone headed republican congressmen-- seems to have worked on you...

Columbian drug lords? sorry that was Ollie North-- and that Man/Woman President Ronnie Regan.... now we get Saudi oil lords anyway...

I'm glad the best president of our life time is coming to town. You guys should stay in your trailers and write to bill O-Reilly about it.

  • Awesome!!! A former President of the United States is coming to Greencastle. I certainly hope I can get off work to see him. It is really unfortunate that some individuals do not view this rare opportunity as a privilege. Any current or former President of the United States deserves respect from the American public regardless of personal views. I would love to see Hillary Clinton win the Democratic nomination.

  • What is all the excitement about Bill Clinton? Other than being a former two term president, he doesn't have anything to offer. A liar, a person who rode the economic coat tails of Ronald Reagan, a person who helped the deteriation of our military. Yeah, he was a great president - NOT.

  • Hey Harleybrat, you need to learn how to spell. Someone who can't even spell marriage correctly certainly has no business commenting about it!!

  • Personally, I don't want Billary or Chillary here. I think that if Hillary or Barack want my support they actually have to ask for it and become more specific about answering questions about their platforms. The same goes for John also.

At this point in time, I don't like any of the candidates and no one is explaining how they plan to effect any change. Leaving Iraq is not the most pressing issue out there. At least we know why we went to Iraq and what they are doing. Lets look at some of the real problems that need solutions instead of reading some poll results.

Anybody out there getting polling phone calls that will not identify what or who is paying for the survey?

  • Everyone needs to worry about their own marriage and the divorce rate would go down in this county. Their daughter told it how it is "none of your business"

  • actually bam it is our business, public figure's in public office, so actually she should answer all questions even if it has to do with her fathers affairs.
