INDIANAPOLIS -- Ron Stiver, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will present "Driving the Indiana BMV into the 21st Century" as part of the DePauw University McDermond Center lecture series on Tuesday, April 15. The presentation will be at noon in the Memorial Student Union Building Ballroom.

Stiver graduated from DePauw in 1996 and Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. He began his career with Eli Lilly and Company and held several positions of leadership in finance, sales and marketing. In 2005 newly elected Governor Mitch Daniels appointed Stiver as Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development where he modernized business processes and refocused training efforts on strategic skills and literacy.

In October 2006, the Governor asked Stiver to be the Commissioner of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles with clear directives to improve customer service. Under Stiver's leadership, significant improvements have been achieved throughout the agency. Most notably, customer visit times have been reduced from averages of 30 minutes just two years ago to 9 minutes YTD 2008, and customer satisfaction ratings are now over 98 percent. A variety of other processes and security improvements have been implemented as well.
