Eagles come from behind

After allowing Monrovia to jump out to a three-run lead in the first and then extend it to 4-0 in the third, South Putnam came to life Monday to get a 5-4 come-from-behind victory.

South got on the board in the fifth as Baily Birt doubled to lead off the fifth and was driven in by Sam Stanifer.

In the sixth, Sam Tomasino hit a double to get the Eagle rally going. Meghan Canary hit a two-run double to tie the game at four before Oceaia Boetjer drove in the go-ahead run with a single.

The Eagles held the Bulldogs scoreless in the seventh to secure the victory.

The two teams play tonight at 5 p.m. at Monrovia
