James M. Mitchell, 80, Cloverdale, died Wednesday at The Waters of Greencastle.

Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of William Andrew Mitchell and Bertha Alice (McGuire) Mitchell.

He was a motor vehicle service driver for the U.S. Postal Service, Indiana-polis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his daughter, Jacquline Murray and husband David, Brazil; a son, James R. Mitchell and wife Sharon, Cloverdale; a brother, Bedford Mitchell, Cloverdale; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Bertha Alice Burns and Mary Frances Mitchell and brother Catley Ernest Mitchell.

Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Alan Slover officiating. Burial will be at Cloverdale Cemetery.

Visitation is noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
