Officials gathered at Ivy Tech Community College Tuesday morning to accept a check for $10,000 from Teachers Credit Union (TCU) toward the $1.9 million Changing Lives … Building Futures capital campaign for the new Greencastle facility.

Pam Lage, TCU service center manager, presented the check to Jeff Pittman, Ivy Tech Region 7 chancellor.

"It is my pleasure to present this check to Ivy Tech on behalf of TCU. We are proud to partner with the school in this venture and in future endeavors helping to build a better Putnam County," stated Lage.

"While financial service is an important part of contributing to a community, TCU's history shows a commitment to going beyond this service," she added.

Putnam County Foundation Director Elaine Peck attended the presentation. She explained that because of many donors like TCU, projects such as helping build the new Ivy Tech campus are possible.

"Because of all of our donors this is possible," Peck said. "We couldn't do it without them. We want to recognize the many Putnam County businesses and people who make contributions.

"We are really just getting started with the campaign. The bottom line is that we will help students and families attend Ivy Tech. In return there are many benefits to the community."

Pittman added, "I can't emphasize enough how important it is to offer students these opportunities. Gifts and grants make it possible for many students to go to school who may have considered doing so financially impossible. It's hard to put into words how valuable that is to our students. Many are the first in their family to attend college."

Ivy Tech will hold its groundbreaking ceremony on the 30,000-square-foot Center for Workforce and Economic Development, located at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Zinc Mill road, on May 27 at 11 a.m.
