STAPERT

Joseph Franklin "Bud" Stapert of Freedom passed away Monday April 21 at Bloomington Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1936 in Morgan County to the late Joseph Stapert Sr. and Bessie Louise Townsend.

He was retired from the John Wooley Sawmill in Mooresville.

He was a member of the Indiana National Guard, a member of the Greencastle Eagles Lodge, former member of the Cloverdale American Legion and Greencastle Moose Lodge. After retirement Papaw Bud enjoyed playing cards and drinking coffee, especially with his extended family. He will be sadly missed by all and he was a cool dude.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ada Lee Stapert; daughter Teresa; son Junior Stapert; grandson, Jesse Stapert; one brother, and one sister.

Bud is survived by his wife, Patricia Lucille Smith Jennings Dwigan Stapert; children, Becky (Archie) Eggers of Freedom, Delmar (Robin) Stapert of Spencer, Rickey (Chrissy) Stapert of Brazil, David (Laura) Stapert of Morgantown; step-children, Fred Jennings of Spencer, Brenda (Jack) Long of Cloverdale, Chuck (Donna) Dwigan of Patricksburg, Darlene (Steve) Sides of Elwood, Annie Bixlee of Crawfordsville, Lora Jackson and companion Gary Carter of Quincy; 15 grandchildren, 45 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 34 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport on Friday, April 25 at 2 p.m.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Mannan Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
