The difference is experience

When a company has been around since 1902 and is still going strong, things must be working well.

For the clients of The Abstract & Title Companies, experience and customer service are important.

The company helps the people of Putnam County and surrounding counties with real estate issues and closing needs.

The company is one of seven locations servicing the state.

The first office was located in Danville. The Greencastle branch opened in 1977 in the Frank Durham Building, across from the fire station.

Danville attorney Lee T. Comer is the owner/president.

"There are four attorneys on staff, Lee, his daughter Amy Comer-Broderick, his son, Ben Comer and Andy Kult, all located at our main office in Danville. They know the real estate business. Their speciality is real estate issues," says local manager Tina Nicholson. "The counsel is available to answer questions arising from any real estate issue."

Experience is one thing the local Greencastle office is not short on.

"We have 10 staff members who together have more than 71 years of experience," she says.

Staff helping Tina are: Becky Smith, Sherry Curtis, Jamie Keil, Cindy Wright, Connie Taylor, Jennifer Girton, Rebecca Roach, Melanie Mangrum and Carrie Myers, who all live here in Putnam County.

"We know Putnam County," she Nicholson said.

The title insurance company offers a full range of title insurance and closing services, including commercial, residential and industrial transactions.

The full-service title insurance and closing provider demand their offices to meet the needs of customers in an ever-changing environment.

The company motto is The Difference Is Our Experience!

"We will continue to grow and to keep up our excellent customer service," says Nicholson. "If you've never experienced a problem during your real estate transactions, you might not fully understand what we do. We check through prior transactions, we clear up all items on title during a purchase/refinance that might create a future problem.

"We follow through the whole transaction. As a buyer of a piece of property, title insurance protects you that the property is free and clear of all liens and encumbrances.

"As a mortgage company, it protects that their loan will have first lien position. All the local Realtors and lenders help keep our business thriving."

From handwritten deeds from times long ago to commitment typed on three-ply paper to today's regular computer generated documents and e-mail, advances in technology have made the entire title insurance and closing business run a little smoother with faster service -- quite a feat for a company with more than a century of experience.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

They can be reached by calling (765) 653-4054. Visit their website at www.abstract-title.com. Be sure to tell them you heard the Buzz.
