DANVILLE -- The Greencastle softball team moved to 8-5 on the season with a 10-3 win over Danville Saturday.

"We needed this game and we needed to get our confidence back a little bit before we played our next conference game," GHS head coach Dave Keller said. "I thought the girls played really good defense and were productive with their at bats."

Briana Baker picked up the win, tossing a complete game with seven hits, three strikeouts and one walk.

Greencastle fell behind early, but erupted in the third inning for eight runs and never looked back. They added one run in the fifth and one in the sixth to grab the win.

Hannah Spencer and Samantha Rising led the Tiger Cubs with two hits each. Spencer added a double. Cassie Alspaugh, Mallory Miller and Veronica Sawyer all had a hit in the contest.

"We don't always hit like we'd like too but we seem to get the most out of our at bats and when you're struggling offensively you just need to make the other pitcher work a little harder and I think we did that Saturday," Keller commented.
