Greencastle girls' track picks up a pair of wins

ELLETTSVILLE -- The Greencastle girls' track team picked up a pair of wins Tuesday, defeating Edgewood and Northview in a triangular match. Boys results were not available.

Greencastle (9-1) scored 86 points to Edgewood's 54.5. Northview was third with 26.5.

"The meet weather was the best we have had this season. It was cool and not windy," GHS girls' coach Garry Anderson said.

"We got several good results and significant improvements in many of the events. I was pleased with our relays and field events," he added.

Among these improvements were Caitlin Gannaway's throw of 38-feet-3-inches in the shot put. Becky Grivas topped 5-feet in the high jump. Erica Soster continues to improve in both of her hurdle events and Hannah Serlin also continues to improve.

"This is a real positive as we head into the tournaments," Anderson said.

Greencastle hosts Cloverdale, Speedway and Monrovia today at 5 p.m.
