Thomas, Michael top races

The candidates who will be on the ballot in November's general election to vie for the District 44 state representative seat both scored decisive victories in Tuesday night's primary election.

Republican Amos P. Thomas defeated challenger Duane W. Conover by 2,134 votes to 673.

Former Greencastle Mayor Nancy A. Michael soundly defeated her opponent, Richard Thompson, for the Democratic nomination. Michael received 4,067 of 5,632 votes cast.

In Senate District 37, Richard Bray (R) was uncontested and tallied votes of 718. On the Democratic side, Joseph Osborn tallied 1,136. Residents of Cloverdale vote for the Senate District 37 seat.

Uncontested on the democratic side of U.S. Rep. District 8 was Brad Ellsworth (D). The republican hopeful is Greg Goode.
