Fair on the Square kicks off Friday at noon

The annual Fair on the Square located on the courthouse square in downtown Greencastle kicks off Friday, May 16 at noon with opening ceremonies by Mayor Sue Murray.

Following the opening ceremony, the Cloverdale Marching Band will play and the VFW vendors will open. Two bands will play that day. The Resistance will be on stage from 4-6 p.m. and Nashville Connection will play from 7-9 p.m.

Saturday is packed beginning with the annual pancake breakfast presented by the Kiwanis at the Greencastle Fire Department. Included in a $5 fee are pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee.

Proceeds from the breakfast benefit several charities including Riley Children's Hospital.

Across the street from the breakfast is the bake sale at First Christian Church from 8 a.m. --noon.

Those interested in registering for the fiddle contest can do so between 9-10 a.m.

At 10 a.m. the ever-popular Eyeore's Birthday party will take place on the Southside of the Courthouse.

From 12:30-1:30, All-star cheerleaders will perform.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the House of Worship Band will play until 3:30 p.m.

From 5-6 p.m., Re-sounds of the Past by Wayne will be on the main stage followed by F-5 Southern Rock from 6-8 p.m.

Saturday's festivities wind down with a visit from the King (Elvis Presley impersonator) from 8-9 p.m.

Vendors open at 9 a.m. Saturday. On Sunday, car and motorcycle registration takes place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Judging of the cars and cycles will take place beginning at 1 p.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. Awards will be presented from 3:30-4 p.m.

Strolling musicians Liza and Mark will perform off and on between 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Johnny Cash will perform from 12:30-1:30 and the Lost River Risin' Bluegrass band will play from 2-3:15 p.m. and from 4-5 p.m.
