Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Chris Mullins, 24, Greencastle, was booked at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday for forgery, welfare fraud, theft and identity deception.

*?Heather Hasty, 29, Indianapolis, was booked at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday for failure to appear.

* Brandy Thompson, 25, Brazil, was booked at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday for forgery.

* Machela Brann, 42, Greencastle, was booked at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday for mischief and battery.

* Robert Flatt, 41, Indianapolis, was booked at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday for burglary.

* James Neal, 40, Greencastle, was booked at 12:28 a.m. Thursday for fraud and auto theft.

* Danny Hensley, 35, Bainbridge, was booked at 2:38 a.m. Thursday for violation of home detention.

City Police

The Greencastle Police Department worked several accidents recently.

* On April 25 at 4:44 p.m., Kenneth Spence, 51, Greencastle was stopped in traffic on Washington and Durham Streets when Melissa Boler, 17, Russellville, was unable to stop rear-ending Spence.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 - $2,500.

* At 8:38 p.m., Dustin Shannon, 20, Greencastle, said he did not realize there was not a stop sign on East Franklin Street and the intersection of North Locust Street and pulled out into the intersection. Jerome Tesmer III, 23, Greencastle was unable to avoid the collision.

Damage was estimated between $750 - $1,000.

* On April 29 at 3:24 p.m., Rebecca Sloan, 60, Indianapolis was slowing in traffic when she stated she misjudged the distance between her vehicle and that of Kristy Crain, 30, Evansville. She rear-ended Crain, causing Crain's vehicle to collide with Jackie Propes, 64, Coatesville.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 - $5,000.

* On May 30 at 12:05 p.m., Jamie Cox, 21, Brazil pulled into Speedway and as she went to park, Angela Sanders, 29, Greencastle, was backing out of a parking spot. Cox believed she had the right-of-way and continued to park, making contact with Sanders' car.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 - $2,500.

*?On May 1, at 8:05 a.m., Ted Fares, 49, Athens, Ohio, was stopped in the roadway on SR 240 East and Capital Drive when Melissa Henry, 28, Clayton rear-ended him stating that Fares had no brake lights. Henry was cited for following too close.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 - $2,500.

* At 1 p.m., Kathy Bault, 45, Greencastle was stopped at the sign in the intersection of Indiana and Walnut streets facing eastbound. Due to several vehicles parked along the side of Indiana Street, she was unable to see Nicole Barrick, 20, Reelsville traveling southbound on Indiana Street.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 - $2,500.

* On May 2, at 5:02 p.m., Kyle Nelson, 16, Cloverdale, stated he did not see that Deborah Adams, 55, Indianapolis, was stopped in traffic on Bloomington St. and a collision occurred.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 - $5,000.

* On May 6, at 6:19 p.m., Martha Gill, 47, Greencastle, stated that she saw Jacob Cherry, 16, Greencastle, stopped at the intersection of S.R. 240 and Bloomington St. She advised that she thought Cherry had turned right and at the same time looked down to answer her cell phone which had started to ring. She advised that before she realized Cherry was still sitting waiting to turn right and it was too late to avoid a collision.

No damage report was submitted.
