Cloverdale senior Raine Young had a long jump of 20-feet-11.75-inches at the Bloomington North Sectional on Friday.

BLOOMINGTON -- A one-day delay was entirely worth it for one Cloverdale athlete Friday night.

At Thursday's Bloomington North Track Regional, the long jump competition was postponed until Friday evening, which saw better weather and a fourth-place jump for the Clovers' Raine Young.

The jump of 20-feet-11.75 inches was good enough for Young to advance to next Thursday's Bloomington North Regional.

While Young was the only Clover to advance to next week's competition, he was not the only one to score points for the team. In Thursday's competition, a number of Clover athletes placed in the top eight.

Young also collected a sixth-place finish in the high jump, with a leap of 5-8.

Levi Boller was seventh in the 200 with a time of 24.87. Nick Keefer came home eighth in the 300 hurdles in a time of 45.92.

The 1,600 relay team of Dillin Gray, Young, Keefer and Jeff Couse placed seventh with a time of 3:59.91.

Young will be back at Bloomington North next Thursday at 6 p.m. for regional action.
