Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monica Little, 26, Worthington, was booked at 2:37 p.m. Monday for operating while intoxicated.

Terrence Hopson, 27, Indianapolis, was booked at 12:38 a.m. Tuesday as part of a petition to revoke probation.

Melanie Smith, 44, Greencastle, was booked at 3:10 a.m. for operating with a blood alcohol content of .15 or more, public intoxication and operating while intoxicated.

Reuban Strong, 21, Terre Haute, was booked at 9:29 a.m. as part of a petition to revoke probation.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department worked two accidents recently.

On May 16 at 7:08 a.m., David Looper, 19, Cloverdale, fell asleep at the wheel while traveling eastbound on U.S. 40 near Reelsville and hit a guard rail.

Damage was estimated between $5,000 - $10,000.

On May 18 at 8:22 p.m., Sharon Greene, 41, Pine Village, was on U.S. 36 when a deer ran in front of her rental car and she was unable to avoid hitting it.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 - $2,500.
