Book discussion set

Friday, June 13, 2008

The Putnam County Public Library, through its Putnam County READS Project, invites the public to a community-wide discussion of "An Unfinished Life" by Mark Spragg.

The discussion is scheduled for Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Lake Clubhouse, Heritage Lake. It is co-sponsored by the Heritage Lake Book Club. Refreshments will be served.

The purpose of PC READS is to promote the shared experience of reading and discussing a single book by an entire community.

"An Unfinished Life" is suitable for adults and young adults. Set in the high-ranch country of Wyoming, it is a story of family, and of forgiveness. Mark Spragg is the author of "Where Rivers Change Direction," a memoir that won the Mountains & Plains Booksellers Award, and "The Fruit of Stone," a novel. Both were top 10 Book Sense selections and have been translated into seven languages. Spragg lives in Cody, Wyoming

The library has books to check out in regular print, large print, books on CD, and PlayAways. Additional copies of "An Unfinished Life" have been released throughout the county for people to read and then pass along, with information inside about how to participate in one of the community discussions.

There are also "Book Club To Go" kits, which groups can check out for a period of approximately 30 day. The kits include books (in various formats, as needed) and a discussion guide. Kits should be reserved in advance by contacting Margot Payne at 653-2755, Ext. 118.
