South Putnam back-to-school

South Putnam Community School will open the 2008-2009 school year on Thursday, Aug. 14 for students in Kindergarten through grade 12. All Kindergarten students must be 5-years old on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible to enroll. Students will be in attendance all day on the 14th and lunch will be served. New students will need a copy of their birth certificate and immunizations records. Proof of legal guardianship may be required.

The starting and ending times of the schools are as follows:

Central Elementary: 8:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Fillmore Elementary: 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

Reelsville Elementary: 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

South Putnam Jr.-Sr. High: 8:23 a.m. to 3:08 p.m.

Please note the time change for Fillmore and Reelsville.

Student enrollment and book rental will be as follows:

Central and Fillmore Elementary: Monday Aug. 5 and Tuesday Aug. 6 from noon until 7p.m.

Reelsville Elementary: Tuesday, Aug 5 noon to 4 p.m./5 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday Aug. 6 noon to 4 p.m./5 to 7 p.m.

Thursday Aug. 7 8 a.m. to noon/1 to 3 p.m.

South Putnam Jr.-Sr. High: Monday Aug. 5 and Tuesday Aug. 6 noon until 7 p.m. Along with normal registration, Monday is for incoming seventh graders and new students -- Tuesday is for Area 30 Registration.

Book fees for the elementary schools are as follows:

Kindergarten $55.86

Grade 1 …… $88.35

Grade 2 …… $77.67

Grade 3 …… $66.74

Grade 4 …… $57.75

Grade 5 …… $55.94

Grade 6 …… $56.69

Parents should make every effort to register during those days. If this is not possible, please contact the high school at 653-3148 or 795-6339 to make arrangements to register Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 6-8 during regular hours 8 -- 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 -- 3 p.m.

Students must have everything completed prior to the first day of school on Thursday, Aug. 14.

Parents unable to pay book rental fees during the scheduled time periods should contact their building principal prior to the first day of school to make arrangements for payment.

Principals will be in their officers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, beginning Wed, July 30.
