Walden Inn serves up special treats to some area kids

Monday, July 28, 2008
Kids from the Enrichment Program got a special treat Friday morning. They were all invited to a breakfast buffet at the 2 West Restaurant at the Walden Inn.

Every year for at least ten years the Walden Inn, Greencastle has held a breakfast for the kids enrolled in the Enrichment Program.

Nearly 50 kids enjoy a breakfast buffet once a year while attending the summer program that takes place every July.

Funded by a federal grant called McKinney Vento Grant, students spend their mornings reading, playing and learning. They also have breakfast and a snack during the one-half day program.

The Greencastle School Corporation provides space at Deer Meadow for the children aged preschool to third grade. They also provide transportation.

Program Coordinator Sharla Arnold has been the program for six years.

Prior to coming to breakfast the group worked on manners. And, from all appearances they learned their lessons well.

The kids were extremely well behaved and enjoyed picking out their favorite types of breakfast bread to go along with eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal, juice and milk.
