Many helped make museum gala a success

To the Editor:

The Putnam County Museum's 7th Annual Meeting and Gala was a great success thanks to many people and organizations, but our first vote of thanks goes to those who so generously contributed to the silent auction, those who attended the luncheon, and those who joined in the fun by offering bids.

The table decorations, created by Angie Smock, Rita Schendel, and Eitel's Flowers --t opped by a floating balloon -- were a lovely sight and set the mood. The lunch, prepared and served by DePauw University Union Building Catering, was delicious. Jane Hansen (Putnam Inn) graciously filled in as bar keep, and Ellen and John Dittmer were a big help in setting up the bar and tending to it in many ways

Thanks to Mike Redmond for providing us with laughs as guest speaker, and to Warren Macy who served us well in his last official function as he has all year as Museum Board President.

We welcomed Diana LaViolette as the Museum's new president and Sherry Gammon and Rita Schendel as new board members. Other business was conducted as well. Others on the Gala committee who were of invaluable assistance were Ken Bode, Anne Clark, John and Diana LaViolette, and Edythe Schendel.

The Museum staff contributed in many ways to the day's events: Jennifer Ro, director; Anne Lovold, assistant director; and Ryan Pyles, summer intern.

Last, but certainly not least, we are grateful to our sponsors without whom we could not have offered such a successful event: Autumn Glen at Greencastle; Dave's Heating and Cooling; Hall Koehler, P.C. (Richard Hall); Ken and Margo Bode; Parke County REMC; Serendipity Gourd Art; Shuee & Sons; St. Vincent's Physicians Network (Dr. Hatcher, Dr. Macy and Dr. Peters); Walden Inn.

Thank you all!
