Ross Elmo Jennings Sr., 92 of Greencastle and formerly of Louisville, Ky., died Aug. 4, 2008.

He was born in Leslie, Ark. on June 28, 1916 to Bruce and Eula Jennings. He married Francis Rhodes on Feb 12, 1941 and she preceded him in death on Oct., 25, 1990.

Mr. Jennings served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a radio operator in a B17.

He had retired after many years as a long-distance truck driver.

Mr. Jennings was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greencastle.

Survivors include his three children, Ross E. Jennings Jr, of Houston, Texas; Michael R Jennings, Greencastle; and Gwen Hutchings, Greencastle; four grandchildren, Donna Melhart and husband Bill, Louisville, Ky.; Christopher R. Hutchings and wife Melissa, Ft Pierce, Fla.; Cary R. Hutchings and wife Alicia, Westwood, Kan.; and Jennifer Hutchings, Ft Pierce, Fla., and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother Hollis Jennings and his wife Dorothy, South Haven, Miss., and sister Betty Willingham and husband, Tom, Memphis, Tenn.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, at 1 p.m., Saturday with Pastor Alan Barber officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Day By Day Hospice.
