CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale High School girls' golf team had a pair of solid performances from Kayla Langdon and Elizabeth Wiley on Monday, but still fell to Owen Valley 221-235 at Clover Meadows.

Langdon was medalist for the match, firing a 45 that featured three pars and just 13 putts. Fellow sophomore Wiley had a 51 for her best nine-hole score ever.

Newcomers Victoria Boyette and Erica Looper turned in scores of 65 and 74, respectively.

"We are progressing slowly, but we aren't going to beat many teams with scores in the 60s and 70s," CHS coach Ken Williams said. "Victoria and Erica are both improving their ball striking, but we need improvements in chipping and putting too."

The Clovers were back in action Tuesday at Terre Haute's Rea Park for the Terre Haute South Invitational. They visit Brazil's Forest Park at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a three-way match with Northview and Linton.

"Hopefully everybody will have success at Rea Park Tuesday and Forest Park on Thursday," Williams said.
