2008 Pool season extended

The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department has announced an extended swimming season.

The park board has decided that instead of closing the facility with the start of school, the pool will remain open, with special hours, until Labor Day.

The new schedule is as follows:

On Mondays to Fridays, a special adult swim time will be offered from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. each day for adult lap swimming, water walking and water exercise.

The pool will be closed on the week nights of Monday through Thursday.

Open swimming will be offered on Friday afternoon and evening from 4-8 p.m.

Traditional summer hours will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Labor Day, with open swim from noon to 5 p.m., family swim from 5-6:30 p.m. and the evening open swim from 6:30-8 p.m.

Lap swim and water fitness will be offered on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Putnam County Girl Scout Night, which is a private function, has been scheduled for Saturday evening, Aug. 23, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Soggie Doggie Day will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 5:30-8 p.m. and will offer a rare opportunity for our area canine friends to enjoy a refreshing dip in the at the Greencastle Aquatics Center.
