Bill L. Singhurst, 73, of Spencer, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at his residence.

Born on March 3, 1935, in Terre Haute, he was the son of Glenn Edward and Josephine Anne (Gruenholz) Singhurst. He married Elnora M. (Hord) Singhurst on Dec. 20, 1990, and she survives.

A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he later worked as a quality engineer for McDonald-Douglas in Mesa, Ariz.

He was a member of Hurst-Collins Post No. 281, American Legion Cloverdale, Prospect Lodge No. 714, F&A.M., Indianapolis and Moose Lodge No. 17, Indianapolis.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Laurie Jackson and husband Matt, of California; step-children Lorna Johnson and husband Scott, of Indianapolis, Samantha Radford and husband Eugene, of Franklin, Sonjia Clapper, of Spencer, Fred Clapper and wife Becky, of Beech Grove, and Dennis Clapper and wife Cheryle, of Spencer; a sister, Myrna Summers and husband Ray, of Brownsburg; a brother, Chuck Singhurst and wife Carol, of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Fannie Singhurst, step-brothers Eddie Anderson, Marty Anderson and Russell Yarnell.

Services will be at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with a Masonic Memorial Service to begin at 8 p.m. Rev. Nick Robertson will officiate the funeral. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Terre Haute, at noon on Wednesday.
