Greencastle volleyball opens season with loss to Northview
BRAZIL -- The Greencastle girls' volleyball team fell to Northview in three game Tuesday. The Tiger Cubs lost 25-15, 25-18 and 25-19.
"I am glad to get started with matches," GHS head coach Trish Lowe said. "We needed to see what we would do against a real opponent. We have lots of work to do, but we will get better."
Coming up with big performances for Greencastle was Kayla Nobles, Brooke Lewis, Mallory Miller and Chelsea Samuels.
Nobles recorded five digs, six spikes, two kills and three aces, while Lewis added 18 digs, four spikes. Miller had 13 digs, four blocks, 12 assists, one kill and 54 sets, with Samuels contributing 10 digs, four blocks, 12 spikes and seven kills.
Braden Amis had a solid game with four digs, 11 attacks and one block. Jordan Lewis added 11 digs, one assist and one aces, with Kelsey Grzesiek adding four digs and Brooke Buckner added one attack.
Despite the loss Lowe remained positive and had her eyes focused on the future.
"Our confidence and our hustle will improve as the season progresses," Lowe said.
The junior varsity also dropped its match to the Knights 25-5 and 25-4.
Greencastle will host Crawfordsville at 6 p.m. Thursday.
