Athenians too much for GHS

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Greencastle girls' volleyball team recorded its second straight loss of the season to Crawfordsville Thursday night.

The Tiger Cubs improved from their first outing, but still were unable to over come the Athenians.

"This will definitely be a year of learning for the players and the coaches," GHS head coach Trish Lowe said.

The Tiger Cubs fell short in the first game 25-22. In their second game, they lost 25-17 and in the third 25-16.

Brooke Lewis had 19 digs, eight spikes, three kills and two aces for the Tiger Cubs. Mallory Miller also had a nice game for GHS, recording 12 digs, three blocks, six assists, one kill and 54 sets.

"We had opportunities, but were not always able to capitalize on them. I am happy with the determination and effort, but it will have to starts showing up in the statistics," Lowe said.

The junior varsity were also defeated by Crawfordsville. The squad won the first game 25-23, but lost the final two 25-11 and 15-4.

The Tiger Cubs will host Southmont at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
