FEMA help still available

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Persons who have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and still have disaster related housing needs can call the FEMA hotline at (800) 621-3362.

Help is also available locally by calling Putnam County Planner Kim Hyten at 653-5727 or Committee Coordinator Dick Andis at (765) 720-1342.

Both Hyten and Andis can help people fill out paperwork or answer questions on the process with FEMA.

"We want to make sure everyone has the help they need, whether it is filling out paperwork or answering questions," Hyten told the Banner Graphic.

The final deadline for filing claims with FEMA was Aug. 17; however, if you have registered with FEMA but not completed paperwork help is still available.

If you call the FEMA Helpline be sure to tell the operator you are from Indiana and have disaster housing needs.
