Tiger Cub football is 1-0

Friday, August 29, 2008

Administrators at Greencastle High School were informed earlier this week that in spite of their week one 30-7 loss to Monrovia, the GHS varsity football team is actually 1-0 coming out of week one.

According to GHS athletic director Scott Knapp, he was informed Monday that the Bulldogs fielded a transfer player who had not been cleared by the IHSAA to play last Friday. Because of this, Monrovia was forced to forfeit the win to Greencastle.

The Tiger Cubs (1-0, 1-0 WCC) travel to Speedway at 7 p.m. today.

  • How does a coach not know or at least think about a new transfer needing to be cleared for eligibilty?Thats a situation thats been around forever and being ignorant of that rule is not an excuse.By the time a coach has risen to Varsity head coach,he has heard, been informed, ect of it.Anything short of a very good investigation by the Athletic Director and Administration will tell alot about Monrovia athletics. Most knoweledgable coaches,A/D's,fans,ect would feel pretty sure the Coach knows the rule and tried to use a player that might help get a win, hoping eligibility wont be discovered..Shame on monrovia IF thats true...
