CLAYTON -- The Greencastle and Cloverdale golf teams visited Deer Creek Wednesday evening for a three-way match with Monrovia. In a match delayed for about an hour by the weather, the Bulldogs came out on top with a 204, followed by the Tiger Cubs at 215. Cloverdale was third with a 237.

Monrovia's Julia Porter was medalist with a two-over 37.

For GHS, Chelsea Samuels was low scorer with a 47. Katie Hedge was next with a 51. Diane Wokoun added a 58, and Kay Wood had a 59.

"Tonight was fairly typical of our recent results as we got a couple of good performances but not the whole team," GHS coach Brad Kingma said. "Katie and Kay both played real well. Katie bounced back from two bad rounds in a row with one of her best of the year and Kay has improved a lot in the last week around the greens as she's getting the ball to the hole more aggressively.

"Chelsea and Diane had problems converting opportunities on a couple of holes with their short game, which hurt them," he added.

Kayla Langdon led the Clovers with a 45. Erica Wiley was next with a 56, and Victoria Boyette had a 62. Erica Looper closed out the effort with a 74.

"Kaylay had seven great holes, but had tree problems on two," CHS coach Ken Williams said.
