Cougars struggle on Rockville's home court
ROCKVILLE -- The North Putnam volleyball team continued to struggle Thursday night as it visited Rockville. The Cougars (3-8, 0-1 WCC) fell to the Rox in three games, 25-12, 25-12, 25-22.
"The girls did not show up to play for the first two game," Cougar coach Jill Schreiber said. "I feel like we were intimidated by Rockville's middle hitter. We did not adjust until the third game. We did not communicate, move our feet to the ball or do anything we practiced.
"The girls are lacking in confidence right now," she added.
The third game was a different story, though, as the Cougars played the Rox very close, ultimately losing by just three points.
"However, in the third game it's like the light bulb turned on. We started to communicate and do the little things that needed to be done," Schreiber said. "I changed up the lineup in the third game.
"Danielle Harbison stepped in and played well for us," she continued. "For not practicing with us and not knowing the defense and offense, she came in and did a great job."
Taylor Alles led the Cougars at the net with eight kills and three blocks. Megan Gray had 12 assists, and Carlye McGaughey had nine digs.
"I do not feel like we are playing to our full potential," Schreiber said. "Some game we play well and others not so well.
"We have been focusing on county this weekend. I feel we will be able to compete. We are ready and know what we, as a team, need to do," she concluded
