Janet "Jan" C. Ingersoll, 81, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

She was born on Saturday, Aug. 27, 1927, in Greencastle.

Mrs. Ingersoll was formerly of Montpelier before moving to Indianapolis. She was a founding member of the Montpelier Art Association. She was involved in community projects and produced several variety shows featuring all local talent. She was also a driving force in the development of "The Brass Latch" art center in Montpelier.

In addition, she helped assemble "The Dinner Bell Band" which played for many clubs and organizations throughout Blackford and surrounding counties.

She graduated in 1945 from Greencastle High School. She had attended the First Baptist Church-Montpelier.

She married Joseph L. Ingersoll on Nov. 16, 1952 in Indianapolis. She was the daughter of the late Oliver Hugh Hammond and the late Katie (Chamness) Hammond.

Survivors include Daughter-Vicki Lee (husband, Dave) Kelley of Carmel, Son-Douglas Ingersoll of Indianapolis, Brother-C.B. (wife, Marilyn) Hammond of Indianapolis, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Mary Lou Skelton.

Arrangements are being handled by Glancy Funeral Homes - Walker Chapel, 109 West Windsor Street, Montpelier, IN where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.

Funeral service will be at Glancy Funeral Homes - Walker Chapel at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 with Les Bantz and Devon Bantz officiating.

Interment will be at Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier, Ind.
