Clover volleyball falls to Shakamak in four games

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale volleyball team fell to visiting Shakamak in four games Tuesday, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 25-20.

According to Clover coach Kathy Moore, the problems for her team started as soon as they stepped on the floor.

"We just didn't play well tonight," Moore said. "We were flat when we walked out on the court in the first game and things just didn't go our way. Shakamak tipped well and we just didn't make the proper adjustments. Our focus will need to be on reducing the number of freeballs we send over the net."

Kaileigh Sparks was the leading scorer for Cloverdale with 12 points and two aces. She also led with 19 assists.

Kristin McCammon led with 11 kills, while Elizabeth Cheatham had 10 blocks. Breegan Andersen, Sparks and Alesha Evans each had five digs.

"I knew Shakamak would dig everything up and they hustle," Moore said. "That's why they were rated last week. It also hurt that one of our seniors, Allie Franklin, is out with an injury.

The Clover JV defeated Shakamak 25-24, 25-20.

The Clovers visit Monrovia at 6 p.m. Thursday in what the coach calls and important conference match.
