Leoda Ann Merriman, 73, of Quincy, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Oct. 2, 1935, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Ernest C. and Laura E. (Holding) Burton. She married Wayne Merriman on May 31, 1952, and he survives.

She was a homemaker and Girl Scout leader with the Covered Bridge Scout Council Service Unit. She was also a noon aide at Cloverdale Elementary.

Additional survivors include three sons, Ralph Lee Merriman, of Indianapolis, David Wayne Merriman, of Indianapolis and Charles Eugene Merriman, of Quincy; three sisters, Alberta Jansen, of Lake Station, Laura Pickering, of Indianapolis and Gertrude Balwinski, of Indianapolis; four brothers, Robert Burton, of Portage, William Burton, of Monticello, Von Burton, of Indianapolis and Albert Burton, of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Susan Ann Green, Shirley Merriman and Charlotte Merriman, sisters Goldie Maietta and Catherin Burton and a brother, James Burton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with burial at Combes Cemetery in Quincy.

Calling is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at the funeral home.
