DePauw runners prepare at Pre-Nationals

HANOVER -- The 20th-ranked DePauw women's cross country team totaled 85 points and finished third at the Hanover Pre-National Invitational. The Tiger men totaled 200 points and finished eighth.

In the women's meet, MIT won with 70 points, while Bethel University was second with 72.

Lauren Reich paced DePauw and finished sixth in 22:34.70, while Alison Case was ninth in 22:49.25. Ellen Mail was 23rd in 23:39.61 followed by Alana Dewitt in 27th in 23:52.45 and Melissa Buckley in 28th in 23:57.72. Marie Borner of Bethel won in 21:24.27.

Allegheny won the men's event with 62 points followed by Trinity College with 106 and Mount Union with 136.

Zack Weinberg led the Tigers with a 20th-place finish after covering the 8,000-meters in 26:16.28. Steve Clark followed in 43rd in 26:4.89. Nathan Ellis was 44th in 26:51.53 and Nick Pucillo placed 45th in 26:51.81. Joe Evans rounded out DePauw's scorers in 48th place in 26:53.95.

Bethel University's Dan Grenno won in 25:31.32.

DePauw returns to action on October 18 at the Oberlin Super Regional.
