Cloverdale cruises to victory over Eminence

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

The Cloverdale volleyball team emerged from a recent skid Tuesday night, defeating Eminence 25-20. 25-22, 25-18.

"We really needed a win tonight," Clover coach Kathy Moore said. "Eminence is a much improved team this year and they just kept fighting to dig every ball. I thought we had some great moments tonight at the net and we served the ball well."

Elizabeth Cheatham led the net play with a season-high 12 kills and seven blocks. Maria Skiles had a season high from the service line with 20 points. Skiles also had three aces.

Kaileigh Sparks led the Clovers with 11 assists.

"We will continue to work on reducing the number of free balls and unforced errors. At this time in the season you really want to work on focus and reducing the number of mental errors," Moore said.

The Clover JV rebounded from a game one loss to defeat the Eels 16-25, 25-20, 15-8.
