Charles "Chuck" Nelson, 66, of Cloverdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

Born May 18, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo., he was the son of Herbert Leron and Clara Agnes (Hall) Nelson Hoyter. He married Mitzie (Kessler) Nelson on Aug. 4, 1979, and she survives.

He was a truck driver for Wilson Freight and was an independent owner/operator.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Cloverdale, Masonic Lodge No. 132, F.&A.M., Cloverdale and was Past President of the Putnam County Shrine Club.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Sally Partin, of Cloverdale; a son, Joseph Nees and wife Monica, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Trudy Heinrich, of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Robert Nelson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Pastor Wes McClure officiating. Burial will be at New Providence Cemetery in Greencastle.

Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at the funeral home with Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m.
