John Baughman

John Cavins Baughman, 42, of Indianapolis died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 in Indianapolis.

Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of John J. and Elizabeth (Bowden) Baughman. He graduated from Greencastle High School in 1984 and attended Hanover College and Indiana University.

He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

John worked in hotel administration in Indianapolis. He was active in choir and dramatics in high school. For many years, he both acted in and directed plays with the Putnam County Playhouse.

He was an Eagle Scout and for a number of summers was on the staff of Boy Scout Camp Krietenstein. While in high school he also did part-time work with radio station WJNZ.

He was active in the state and local Democratic Party. He served as national president of the Phyllis Diller Fan Club. He was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church.

His mother preceded him in death.

He is survived by his father, John J. Baughman, distant cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. Private interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Putnam County Playhouse or the Boy Scouts of America.
