GHS volleyball wins on Senior Night

The Greencastle volleyball team (6-23, 1-3 WCC) got a big win on Senior Night against Riverton Parke Thursday night. The Tiger Cubs won in three games 25-14, 25-12 and 25-15.

"This was a great way to finish the regular season and start off the week of sectional practice," GHS head coach Trish Lowe said.

The Tiger Cubs were led by Brooke Lewis and her 18 digs, six kills, two aces, three points and a stuff block. Mallory Miller had a nice night as well with 18 digs, four aces, four kills, 19 assist and 14 points.

Kayla Nobles added eight digs, four kills, two aces and 18 points, while Chelsea Samuels contributed 12 digs, 10 kills, 12 blocks, four stuff blocks and one ace. Jordyn Lewis had eight digs, two kills, one point, one block and four assists, with Braden Amis adding two digs, two kills, four blocks, one stuff block and four points.

Kelsey Grzesiek had one dig and three points, Brooke Buckner had four digs, Jessie Bennett had one kill and Kandice Phillips added four points and one ace.

Lowe was pleased after the game with the effort of her team and singled out one particular senior.

"Senior night was our opportunity to shine as a team and from Brooke Lewis -- our player of the year," Lowe commented.

Greencastle's junior varsity also came away with a win, defeating Riverton Parke 23-25, 25-17 and 15-8.

Greencastle will next be in action in Sectional 29. Greencastle drew the bye and will face the winner of Sullivan and South Vermillion next Saturday at 11 a.m.
