Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Michael A. Gaines, 35, was booked at 11:31 p.m. for two felony charges of residential entry and operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator. Gaines was also booked on misdemeanor charges of operating while suspended and criminal recklessness. He was charged with two counts driving while intoxicated.

Paul E. Thornton, 46, Bainbridge, was booked at 10:15 p.m. Oct. 22 for driving while intoxicated.

William M. Dower, 47, Greencastle, was booked at 2:21 p.m. Oct. 23 for probation violation.

Donald L. Dixie, 28, Greencastle, was booked at 8:50 p.m. Oct. 23 for probation violation.

Joshua Sebastian, 18, Greencastle, was booked at 8:09 p.m. Oct. 24 for theft.

Wesley B. Garrison, 26, Greencastle, was booked at 3:04 a.m. Saturday for a felony charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication.

Jerald C. Norman II, 26, Greencastle, was booked at 5:05 a.m. Saturday for a felony charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and driving while intoxicated.

Qulan K. Martin, 19, Martinsville, was booked at 7:35 p.m. Saturday for two misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was also booked on a driving while intoxicated charge.

John L. Stafford, 46, Roachdale, was booked at 9:45 p.m. Saturday on two felony charges of resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was also booked on two misdemeanor charges for intimidation and disorderly conduct along with refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Timothy M. Bray, 19, Greencastle, was booked at 10:01 p.m. Saturday for theft.

Lee W. Kiger, 39, Greencastle, was booked at 10:18 p.m. Saturday for public intoxication and driving while intoxicated.

Richard Iseman, 32, Greencastle, was booked at 1:04 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and driving while intoxicated.

Robert W. Fisher, 36, Greencastle, was booked at 1:27 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication.

Jamie Trivett, 21, Cloverdale, was booked at 2:14 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication.

Sara Trivett, 20, Cloverdale, was booked at 3 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication, possession of alcohol by a minor, operating with a blood alcohol level of .08 or greater and driving while intoxicated.

Heather N. Moore, 29, Greencastle, was booked at 3:58 a.m. Sunday on a felony charge of residential entry. She was also charged with public intoxication.

Bradley W. Benson, 27, Greencastle, was booked for public intoxication and driving while intoxicated.

Kevin T. Munro, 52, St. Peters, Mo., was booked at 12:42 a.m. Monday for driving while intoxicated and operating per se.

Guy C. Brewster, 45, Greencastle, was booked at 9:41 a.m. Monday for probation violation.

Kenneth A. Kenworthy, 29, Fillmore, was booked at 7:41 p.m. Monday for failure to appear.

Monica Townsend, 18, Indianapolis, was booked at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday on four misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, possession of alcohol by a minor, public intoxication and operating per se. She was also booked for driving while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

Several accidents have been reported to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office involving deer.

Daniel S. Okulovich, 23, Brazil, was traveling eastbound on County Road 640 at 11 p.m. Saturday, when a deer crossed in front of his vehicle. He could not avoid a collision.

Jeffrey L. Syrus, 55, Cloverdale, was northbound on 1000 E at 3:40 p.m. Friday, when her swerved to miss a deer. He hit the ditch, took out a drain and mail box and caused damage to a yard.

Mark Collins, 47, Greencastle, was traveling west on S.R. 240 at 7:35 p.m. Oct. 23, when a deer entered the road. He swerved to miss the animal. Collins lost control of his vehicle after hitting the deer. He left the south side of the road and came to rest against a utility pole. No damage was done to the pole. No injuries were reported at the scene.

William Neumann, 39, Greencastle, was traveling north on 500 E at 7 p.m. Oct. 21, when a deer entered the road. He tried to avoid the animal, but was unable to avoid a collision.

Lois Schilling, 33, Cloverdale, was unable to avoid colliding with a deer.

Stacey Dotson, 37, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 40 at 7:35 a.m. Oct. 23, when a deer ran into her left front fender. The animal also struck the left front and left rear door of her vehicle. Dotson reported not seeing the deer until it collided with her vehicle.

Brian Stuck, 36, Terre Haute, was traveling westbound on U.S. 40 at 9:03 p.m. Oct. 22, when he was unable to collide with a deer.

Shanta Aaron, 64, Terre Haute, was westbound on U.S. 40 at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19, when a deer entered the road. She was unable to avoid hitting the animal.

Andrew Rogers, 19, Crawfordsville, was traveling on 200 N at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, when he approached a corner and his vehicle lost power. He was unable to steer causing him to run off the road and into a ditch. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Taylor Newman, 16, Greencastle, was traveling south on County Road 200 W at 6:10 p.m. Oct. 21, when she rounded a curve and lost control of her vehicle due to loose gravel. She overcorrected causing her to travel off the west side of the road. Newman's vehicle overturned in a cornfield.

David Bault, 36, Spencer was stopped on Indianapolis Road to make a left turn into Hedley's Hardware when the back of his vehicle was struck by Nickie Franklin, 18, of Greencastle. Franklin stated she looked down and did not see Bault stopped. Chelsa Green of Greencastle was traveling behind Franklin. Green stated she thought Franklin passed out because she was leaned forward and did not attempt to brake for Bault's vehicle.

David Brovont, 43, Battle Creek, Mich., was westbound on I-70 in his 2002 Dodge Durango. Brovont was pulling a 1999 Haulmark trailer when it struck a rut in the road. The rut caused the trailer to swerve, hit a ditch and overturn on the north side of the road. The SUV was damaged when the trailer became unhooked. The trailer was a total loss.

Ivyl Neeley, 68, Greencastle, was westbound on 1000 Sat 6:11 p.m. Oct. 23, when traffic traveling east hit a large stick on the side of the road. The stick was thrown into the air and hit Neeley's vehicle causing the windshield to break. There were also dents on top of the vehicle.

Ashley Douglas, 16, Greencastle was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching U.S. 40, when Billy Pierson, 22, Sullivan struck the passenger side of her vehicle. Pierson stated he was exiting the gas station and attempting to turn north on U.S. 231. He pulled between vehicles stopped for a red light and observed no traffic. He failed to see Douglas' vehicle approaching the turn lane. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
