Spirit of Christmas entries sought

Thursday, November 6, 2008

It is time again for local businesses to break out the tinsel, lights, and ornaments and get creative for the holidays.

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is now accepting entries for the 2008 Spirit of Christmas Award.

Since 1984 the award has been presented to the local business whose holiday decorations have best captured the "Spirit of Christmas."

The traveling plaque will be presented at the Civic League's Lights of Love Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Greencastle City Hall Building.

Competing businesses must have their entry forms in no later than 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, and have their businesses decorated and ready for judging by 4 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Businesses will be judged on the following criteria: Spirit of Christmas, originality, appropriateness for the business, continuity of theme and preparation and effort.

The contest is open to any business in the Greencastle area. Businesses do not have to be members of the Chamber of Commerce to enter.

If you have any questions call the Chamber office at 653-4517. To be eligible for judging, send your entry form to the Chamber of Commerce, 16 S. Jackson Street, Greencastle or fax it to 765-848-1015.
