George Whitaker

George "Les" Whitaker, 67, of Indianapolis passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at his residence.

Born Feb. 12, 1941 in Indianapolis, he was the son of George F. and Eusie Mae (Mink) Whitaker.

Mr. Whitaker had been a mechanic with the U.S. Post Office in Indianapolis for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Plainfield and the Moose Lodge #1592, Greencastle.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Ford and husband, Richard of Paragon, Karen Whitaker of Plainfield, Kelley McGinn and husband, Dan of Indianapolis, and Kandi O'Neill of Indianapolis; a brother, David Whitaker and wife, Connie of Niles, Mich.; a sister, Shirley Boller of Greencastle; nine grandchildren, Desiree, Krista, LeeAnne, Dana, Stefanie, Shelbie, Kelsey, Mackenzie, and Jacob; four great grandchildren, Trinton, Gavin, Kadyn, and Tori.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffrey Wayne Whitaker; a brother, Marvin Whitaker; and two sisters, Gladith Lowe and Mary June Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Porter officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
