Putnam County Jail

The following were booked into the Putnam County Jail for various charges.

Jenneya Bruce, 26, Reelsville, was booked at 3:58 p.m. Monday for probation violation.

Lisa Wine, 41, Greenwood, was booked at 7:31 p.m. Monday for operating while intoxicated and operating per se.

Mark Noland, 51, Greencastle, was booked at 9:18 p.m. Monday for disorderly conduct.

Thomas Terry, 54, Cloverdale, was booked at 9:46 p.m. Cloverdale, for public intoxication, operating while intoxicated and operating per se.

Thomas Steimetz, 37, Indianapolis, was booked at 12:49 a.m. Tuesday for operating with a blood alcohol content of .15 or more, operating while intoxicated and public intoxication.

Sheriff's Department

Several accidents are continuing to be reported by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office due to the icy road conditions.

Lisa Wine, Greenwood, was traveling east on County Road 725 S at 5:45 p.m. Monday, when she lost control of her vehicle causing it to leave the roadway and strike a large mailbox. Wine stated she was unfamiliar with the area and had caused her to crash. Law enforcement responding to the accident smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Wine. She was transported to Putnam County Jail, where she failed a certified chemical test. Curtis Garage towed Wine's vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Heather Lee, Reelsville, was traveling east on I-70 and passed an International truck driven by Jack Hults of Elmire, N.Y. Lee lost control of her Dodge Neon due to icy road conditions causing it to spin 180 degrees in front of Hults' International. Hults was unsuccessful in slowing his truck and trailer, and struck the front of Lee's car. Following the impact, Hults truck crossed the median into both westbound lanes, exited the roadway, crossed a ditch and embankment and traveled through a fence before coming to a stop. Operation Life Ambulance transported both drivers to Putnam County Hospital for treatment of injuries. The Indiana Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. The accident occurred at 7:44 a.m. Monday. There was an estimated $25,001 to $50,000 in damages.

Danielle Smith, Terre Haute, was traveling east on I-70 Monday, when she observed the accident involving Lee and Hults. She attempted to reduce her speed, but due to weather and road conditions she lost control of her vehicle. It left the roadway, slid across the median and across both westbound lanes of traffic before striking a guardrail. Smith and her passenger were uninjured. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Tracy Harville, Greencastle, was traveling east on I-70 Monday, when she too observed the accident involving Lee and Hults. Harville attempted to reduce her speed, but lost control of her vehicle causing it to cross the median; travel across the inner shoulder; both lanes of westbound traffic; and outer shoulder before striking a guardrail. Harville was uninjured, but complained of face pain from the deployment of the airbag. She refused medical treatment at the scene. Steeles Towing towed Harville's vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Stephen Tresmer, Greencastle, was traveling north on U.S. 231 at 4:07 a.m. Monday, when his vehicle left the roadway possibly due to icy road conditions, hit a ditch, and slid across the road on its top. Tresmer became trapped in his vehicle and was removed by Jaws of Life. Jerry's Towing towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $10,001 to $25,000 in damages.

Sarah Peters, Oxford, was traveling south on U.S. 231 at 9:49 p.m. Sunday, when a deer crossed the vehicle's path. Peters struck the animal and her vehicle was towed from the scene due to busted headlights. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Melissa Coffey, Mooresville, was traveling east on S.R. 240 at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, when she attempted to reduce her speed for a stopped vehicle in front of her. Jason Reynolds of Coatesville had stopped his vehicle due to a bale of hay in the roadway. Chris Trammell of Greencastle was transporting hay in his pick-up truck and returned to retrieve the lost bale, when he witnessed Coffey's vehicle strike the passenger door and front wheel of Reynolds' vehicle. Coffey stated the icy road conditions caused her to lose control of her vehicle. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Anne Vanderlaan, Coatesville, was traveling south on Heritage Drive at 2:07 p.m. Saturday, when her vehicle slid due to icy road conditions and caused it to hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Arthur Zickman, Coatesville. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Christopher Hair, Camby, was traveling west on I-70 approaching the U.S. 231 overpass at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Hair stated a strong wind struck the side of his pick-up truck and the rear end broke loose on the ice-covered pavement. Hair lost control of his truck. Faint skid marks on the road indicated the truck slid onto the north shoulder and traveled approximately 70 feet before striking a guardrail. Upon impact, the back of the truck spun around and came to rest against the guardrail facing north. Hair and his passenger were uninjured. There was an estimated $10,001 to $25,000 in damages.

Following Hair's accident, Cassandra Bogard, St. Charles, Mo., observed a vehicle traveling in front of her in the westbound lane of I-70 begin to slide. Bogard attempted to reduce her speed, but due to the icy road conditions she lost control of her vehicle. Bogard's vehicle struck Hair's pick-up truck. No injuries were reported at the scene. Cloverdale Fire and Indiana Department of Transportation personnel assisted at the scene. Steele's Towing towed Bogard's and Hair's vehicles from the scene. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Rebecca King, Indianapolis, was traveling west on I-70 at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, when she attempted to cross Mill Creek Bridge. King lost control of her vehicle due to the icy road conditions. Her vehicle left the roadway and struck the concrete bridge wall, where it came to rest, King was uninjured. Cloverdale Fire Department personnel assisted at the scene. Steele's Towing towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Carol Hensen, Batesburg, S.C., was traveling west on I-70 at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, when she approached the Mill Creek Bridge and Rebecca King's vehicle. Hensen attempted to reduce the speed of her tractor-trailer, but lost control due to the road conditions. The tractor-trailer jack-knifed after leaving the roadway and traveling across the median. It came to a stop in the eastbound lanes. Law enforcement was already on scene due to the above accident. Curtis Towing towed the tractor-trailer from the scene. There was an estimated $10,001 to $25,000 in damages.

Cody Broyles, Plainfield, was traveling westbound on S.R. 240 at 7:48 a.m. Saturday, when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve due to the icy road conditions. Broyles' vehicle spun around before exiting the roadway and coming to a rest on its driver's side in a ditch. Broyles' was able to exit the vehicle and reported no injuries at the scene. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

David Williams, Coatesville, was traveling north on County Road 875 E at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, when a deer entered the roadway. Williams was unable to avoid hitting the animal. At the time of the accident, snow was falling and reduced visibility. Williams was uninjured. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.
