Eagle swimmers split with Fountain Central

The girls' and boys' swim team from South Putnam battled with Fountain Central Saturday at home. The boys came away with a 93-82 win, while the girls fell 121-62.

The boys had six individual winners and capture the top spot in each of the relay races.

Sophomore Andrew Kelly got things going for South Putnam by capturing the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:14.52. Darrick Grundlock kept things rolling for SPHS, by winning the 200-yard IM (2:37.63) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.24). Lauren Ashcraft won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.62 and Jake Gould took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.21. Thomas Butts posted a 127.90 to seize the diving event.

The relay team of Grundlock, Gould, Matt Huck and Ashcraft won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:02.03. Grundlock, Huck, Ashcraft and Damon Robinson teamed up to take the 200-yard freestyle relay with the time of 1:46.43. The team of Kelly, Huck, Trent Vickery and Ashcraft captured the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:03.19.

For the girls, Tabitha Arnold won South Putnam's first event by capturing the 200-yard free with a time 2:45.70. Cassie Warren won the 200-yard IM in a time of 3:03.15, while Amanda Lund captured the 50-yard free 28.74.

South Putnam will travel to Speedway today at 6 p.m.
