Deanne White was named Putnam County Dispatcher of the year at the Monday night Commissioners meeting. White has worked for 911 Dispatch since 1991. County Commissioners Gene Beck and Jim Baird presented a plaque to her during the meeting.

Deanne White was named Dispatcher of the Year and presented with a plaque at the Monday evening Putnam County Commissioners meeting.

Putnam County 911 Director Dave Costin told Putnam County Commissioners Gene Beck and Jim Baird what a terrific employee White has been.

"Her nerves are legendary; they are made of steel," said Costin, who recalled an incident in the county with gunfire being exchanged.

"Several of the people involved told me afterward it was Dee who kept them calm. She stayed calm so they stayed calm," he said.

He went on to talk about how he always knew when she was on duty, things would be fine.

"I can always, always count on her. And, she is a work horse. We had to schedule days off for her because she was always here. She is the type of employee you wish you could clone," he added.

White has worked for the Putnam County 911 Dispatch since 1991. She is now working part time for the county and recently went to DePauw University fulltime in its Dispatch Center.

White accepted the plaque from the commissioners as her family and friends looked on, applauding her award.
