CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department broke ground Saturday on a storage facility.

The 66 feet by 66 feet building will be used to store Hazmat trailers and seasonal equipment. The department is currently renting facilities to store the equipment.

"With the cost of new equipment it is very important to maintain what we have," said Daryl Branneman, Cloverdale Township trustee.

The townships are funding the building through the township community-building fund. The land where it will be constructed is owned by the volunteer fire department.

"No new taxes or additional funding is being used," Branneman said.

Construction should be completed in 30 days depending on inclement weather.
